Here is some 4 inch recessed kitchen lights we added in a high-rise condo. There was minimal damage done when installing them. You can see that the window is only an inch or so below the ceiling. With a window that close to the ceiling you can see all the damage that was done and the patching to make the ceiling smooth again. After a coat of fresh paint you never know we were there.
The lighting is a general purpose lighting for a kitchen. They line up over the walk way between the sink and the stove. This type of lighting works great but would greatly benefit from under-cabinet task lights.
