How to wire a Kiln for home use.

 This kiln is in the basement of a small south Philadelphia Row home. The main electrical service needed to be upgraded to a 200 amp service. The kiln is fused at 70amps and the homes entire electrical service was only rated at 100 amps. The kilns location is in the opposite side of the home from the electrical service. A 100 amp SER cable was ran and protected in an metal flexible shield.  The disconnect pictured here has 70 amp fuses in it and has a lock out as specified by the manufacture. The lock out is designed so that the kiln can be controlled by the operator and can't be use by anyone else when the disconnect is locked.

    "How much should it cost for this?" I cannot give you a cost for the kiln itself. I think the one in the picture was around $3,000 but I'm not sure. Electrically the pricing depends on the distance from the main panel and the size of the united needed.
