Do I have Knob and Tube wiring?

Knob and tube wiring ended in the 1930's. It is still in use in many homes in the Philadelphia area. Some of the wiring is almost 100 years old. We are seeing a rise of insurance company looking to have homes inspected for knob and tube. This can be a difficult thing to do. Here is this picture you can see how someone tapped off the old knob and tube to feed an new circuit. This is a common practice with you lower priced electricians. This to me is a waste of money. You can not expect to have a safe and dependable electrical system when you are building on a week foundation.
