Question:
I am replacing a hanging chandelier and am confused. One website says the smooth wire on the new fixture goes to white, and another says the smooth goes to black..help?
Answer:
Hi Lisa,
It really will not matter. You can use a continuity tester and check which wire goes to the screw part of the socket. The screw part should be the white. The hot or black should be the tab in the bottom of the socket. It will work either way and it will not matter as long as you keep your finger out of the socket.
